If you have not yet read my first book, I strongly recommend pausing this one and starting there. If you already have, it is time to move on to practice. To answer the question hidden in this chapter's title: this book is about planning and achievement. Unlike the previous one, which was theoretical, this book is strictly practical. There is a minimum of theory here, and all the theory that exists makes up no more than 10–20 percent of the book. Its purpose is rather to explain complex practical aspects and practices.
The practice will consist of several stages that I hope you will follow. In general, you should not treat this book as material you can simply read and put on a shelf. Proper use of this book implies working with it regularly for at least a year, and preferably two. This is necessary so that over that time you develop the habit of planning correctly, completing tasks, and checking against your goals. I will explain all of this in more detail below — what to do and for how long.
