Introduction

2022 has come to an end, which means it's time to summarize the year. As in several previous years, I meticulously document many things. My slogan for the year was not the most pleasant, and if I were asked how I would characterize it, I would use a quote from Yashin (no, not the football player): “There is no confidence in tomorrow.” Although in some individual aspects, 2022 was a happy and quite successful year for me.

As in previous years, I set goals and objectives that I tried to accomplish throughout the year. As tradition dictates, let's start with those.

Out of 6 main goals:
✅ Goal 1 - achieved 100%
✅ Goal 2 - achieved 100%
✅ Goal 3 - achieved 82%
✅ Goal 4 - achieved 100%
✅ Goal 5 - achieved 100%
❌ Goal 6 - postponed to next year

For 6 secondary goals, which are not particularly measurable, I will also try to summarize:
❌ Goal 1 - changed significantly throughout the year
✅ Goal 2 - achieved
✅ Goal 3 - achieved
❌ Goal 4 - not completed and postponed to next year
✅ Goal 5 - achieved
✅ Goal 6 - achieved

I would call my 2022 the year of buying a second car, and it was a new one from the dealership. It is also worth noting the completion of the apartment renovation, which cost just under $50,000. For the past 8 years, I have always highlighted the most priority goal and named the entire year after it.

2015 - The Year of Web Programming Theory
2016 - The Year of In-Depth Web Programming Theory
2017 - The Year of Web Programming Practice
2018 - The Year of Socialization
2019 - The Year of Travel
2020 - The Year of Reading IT Books
2021 - The Year of Buying My First Apartment
2022 - The Year of Buying a Car from the Dealership

Both of mine :)

It is also worth noting that I have moved away from daily, weekly, and monthly tasks in favor of another program that is more convenient for me. So now there are no sticky notes on my desktop, but there is another program that is constantly running with organized tasks and plans.

Sports

This year, as in the previous one, I had 28 runs with a total distance of 341 km. If we take the total mileage over 4.5 years, I have already run 1310 km. More details about all my runs this year can be found in a separate article, which also includes several interesting graphs.

Work

At work, I was promoted to Technical Director. However, this is just a formality, as I continued to do the same things I had been doing for the previous years. It is also worth noting that this year I started passing on my knowledge to others. First of all, I had 3 presentations for company employees this year compared to one last year. The topics of these presentations are as follows:

  • Microservices and Monoliths. SPA Applications. PWA Applications. (2021)
  • Open Heart Surgery. Late Abortion or How We Conceived and Delivered the Design (2022)
  • Technical and Technological Improvements of the VZO (2022)
  • Basics of Computer Security. Never Trust Users (2022)

Additionally, there is a high likelihood that there will be several presentations in 2023. Secondly, within the company, we launched a full-fledged programming course, where I teach about 8-10 colleagues from other departments programming. Upon completion of the course, we plan to issue certificates to the employees. If the course goes well, there may be other courses with different training programs in the future.

Food, Health

While I didn’t take any pills last year, this year I had to take about a dozen. I managed to catch a cold twice in the first half of the year and again closer to the end of the year, but each time I recovered within 2-3 days. I still haven’t bought or consumed a single liter of soda this year: no Sprite, Coke, or Fanta, which I’m very happy about. Last year, I was able to keep track of the amount of juice I consumed, but this year it was extremely difficult. Over the year, I gained about 1.5 kg. I also noted the days when I consumed alcohol, this time without a bright and beautiful calendar.

January: 4, 5, 16, 17, 28
February: 4, 14
March: 8
April: 5
May: 1, 22, 26
June: 3, 26
July: 15
August: 20, 25
September: 16, 22
October: -
November: 19
December: 1, 17, 24, 31

If last year I had 18 days when I consumed alcohol, this year it’s 24. I really went overboard :). Although it’s worth noting that the statistics include days when I had at least one cocktail. However, those are nearly all the days from the list above.

Games

As I mentioned in last year's summary article I still do not play any games. While last year I played Sudoku on my phone, this year I have even stopped doing that. However, since I started living with someone this year, I found that puzzles were a great way to spend weekday evenings at home. I managed to complete all of them except for the two largest ones, which I worked on this year.

Education

Education in 2022 remained stable: podcasts, articles, and books. A separate, more detailed article about the books was published earlier.

Movies and Series

If I was already watching very few series before, in 2022 I watched even less. As before, Netflix remains my main and only source for series. Over the past year, I managed to watch "Lupin," "Vikings Valhalla," "Wednesday," and very briefly the series "Man vs. Bee" with Rowan Atkinson. I rewatched several dozen movies from IMDb. I went to the cinema a total of 14 times. Here are the films and animated movies I watched:

  • The Last Warrior: Messenger of Darkness
  • Three Heroes and a Horse on the Throne
  • Waldo
  • Death on the Nile
  • Flirting with the Devil
  • Maigret and the Mysterious Girl
  • Operation Mincemeat
  • Four Good Days
  • The Missing
  • Claustrophobes: Valley of the Devil
  • Keeper of Secrets
  • Die for a Dollar
  • Double Loop
  • The Disobedient 2

"Operation Mincemeat" and "Double Loop" were probably the best, while "The Last Warrior: Messenger of Darkness" and "The Disobedient 2" were remarkably poor films.

Travel

As in the previous year, I counted my taxi rides. Despite having a second car, the number of taxi rides increased from 25 to 116, with 107 of those occurring in the first nine months of the year.
