My favorite genre is films based on real events. It is especially enjoyable to watch films about events you weren't previously aware of. This film is exactly about such an event. Perhaps not very publicized or well-known, but one that could have indirectly influenced the course of history.

A two-hour film by director John Madden. This was the first film by this director that I had the chance to see, so I didn't know in advance what we were going to the cinema for. But overall, I didn't regret it at all. The main plot isn't drawn out, and the key events unfold right at the beginning of the film. Despite the constant short inserts about personal lives, the film can't be called boring. It draws you in and intrigues, making you worry about the main characters. Although, of course, its main value lies in the historical events and facts that formed the basis of the plot.

I'll try not to spoil too much, though it's difficult. So, the plot tells of a secret British intelligence operation in 1943, the goal of which was to misinform Nazi Germany before the Allied landing in Europe. The British took the body of a deceased man, passed him off as a Royal Marines officer, "accidentally" allowed the body to fall into German hands off the coast of Spain, and placed fake secret documents in the pockets, stating that the Allies were planning to land in Greece and Sardinia, not Sicily.

Well, one of the most important things I value in films is that a film should stay in your mind long after watching, generate some questions that you'll want to find additional answers to, or simply discuss it with someone. This film is exactly like that. After watching it, I wanted to study this historical event in more detail—how much it influenced the course of World War II, and also to what extent the story presented in the film was distorted. To my pleasant surprise, the distortions were minimal, which means the film can be considered to have conveyed the entire atmosphere of that time and the importance of this event, which the film tells about.
