According to my friends, the article about IMDb movies that I wrote last year was one of my best. In it, I shared my impressions of watching iconic films of all time. It just so happened that by the end of the year, I finished watching the top 250 movies on Kinopoisk.
Introduction
Just like with the IMDb list, at the very beginning of the year I created a top‑250 list according to Kinopoisk and spent the entire year watching films. Some of the movies I had already seen, because 93 of the titles in this list overlapped with the IMDb list, meaning I did not have to rewatch them. It’s also worth noting that by year‑end the list had shifted slightly – a few titles moved up, some moved down, but the changes were minor.
I watched nearly all films, except for the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises, which I also skipped when consulting the IMDb list. It’s not a personal dislike; for long‑running series (5‑7 parts) it’s better to enjoy them in chronological order rather than by rating. For that reason, when this article was written the Pirates of the Caribbean series remained unrated. I have seen them before and plan to rewatch them specifically for the rating.
Evaluation Criteria
My views have not changed, but I have become much stricter about plot predictability and whether actions respect physics, astronomy, logic, and common sense – unless it’s an animated or extreme sci‑fi set in another universe. About the Cover
Firstly, I excluded from the preview films that appeared on the IMDb cover. Secondly, I also omitted many great films I watched on IMDb that could have fit the cover but didn’t, especially those also present in the Kinopoisk ranking. I didn’t revisit films that were on both lists, so only those watched exclusively on Kinopoisk appear on the cover.
